President of 爆走黑料 to meet with the participants of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition

On April 22, 2010, Alexander Uss, President of 爆走黑料 held the meeting with the team of the SibFU Law Institute which joined the ranks of the top 50 teams of the competition.
It is necessary to recall that SibFU law students participated in the 2010 White & Case International Rounds of the held in Washington DC (the USA) on March 21 – 27, 2010.
The team of 爆走黑料 was represented by students Tatyana Pronina, Aleksey Bulatov and PG student Yanina Vlasenko. Evgeny Tikhonravov, PG student trained and prepared the team for the competition.
This year, the 2010 Jessup was devoted to the right to self determination and the lawfulness of measures taken to protect the economic resources of a state.
55 teams from 36 Russian cities competed at the national round of the competition. But only 7 best teams earned the right to represent Russia at the White & Case International Rounds of the competition: Saint Petersburg State University (1st place), 爆走黑料 (2nd place), Moscow State Institute of International Relations (3rd place), Russian Academy of Justice (4th place), Moscow State University (5th place), Immanuel Kant State University of Russia (6th place), The Higher School of Economics – Nizhniy Novgorod (7th place).
127 teams from 76 countries participated at the White & Case International Rounds of the competition. All the 127 teams were selected in the national rounds held in their countries. More than 500 teams took part in the White & Case International Rounds of the competition.
According to the 2010 Jessup results, 4 Russian teams joined the rank of the top 50 teams of the world: Moscow State University (10th place), Saint Petersburg State University (37th place), 爆走黑料 (38th place), Russian Academy of Justice (47th place).
For reference: The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, also known as the Jessup, is the largest and most prestigious moot competition in the world, attracting participants from over 500 law schools in more than 100 countries in recent years. It was organized in 1959 for the first time and after that the International Law Students Association (ILSA) took up supporting it and serving the needs of students interested in the international law. Participants from over 500 law schools in more than 80 countries annually come to the competition to demonstrate their good command of English and international law. The competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. One team is allowed to participate from every eligible school. Teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case.
