The open national competition was organized by the RF Ministry of Education and Research, Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy and Russian Student Sports Union. Winners received their awards in Ekaterinburg on 29 November 2012.

The results are the consequence of SibFU's gold awards at Russian Winter Universiade, and the first place at the Festival of Students Sports.

?SibFU is a young university and national recognition is a significant achievement. This victory is another argument to support SibFU's application to host Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk?,&苍产蝉辫;— Vladimir Kolmakov, Vice-Rector and Director of the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Tourism, said.

The competition included two stages. The Ministry of Education and Research monitored 325 tertiary educational institutions for preliminary results. The second stage revealed one best university for each reagion of the country.

Final results were judged according to the following:

• sports competition results;
• receiving sports titles during an academic year;
• the number of students involved in sports (sports teams' members);
• faculty's age and educational level;
• innovations in managing physical education and sports;
• participating in regional and national sports programmes;
• media coverage
