Ryuichi Kizumi from Nikken Sekkei, Japan, spoke about planning a 'smart city' at SibFU on 21 May 2013. The lecture was a follow up of an agreement made in Japan in 2013 when a delegation from Krasnoyarsk visited Japan.
According to Sergey Verkhovets, Vice Rector, Research and International Collaboration, ?Krasnoyarsk takes the ninth place in the rating of Russian cities. It is ahead of Omsk, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Mytishi and Sochi. However, there is much to be done about comfort living, innovation and infrastructure. Ryuichi Kizumi, Head of Project Management at the Department of Urban Planning and Development, Nikken Sekkei, spoke about the company's projects of development using the technology of 'smart cities' in Saint Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk and Nizhny Novgorod, The audience was interested in 'New Bank' project designed in Saint Petersburg and in Krasnoyarsk City project.
The questions were about the issues of parking in new residential districts, environmental problems and air pollution in lower parts of the city. There were questions about Nikken Sekkei's involvement in other Krasnoyarsk projects of urban development and about students' internships at Nikken Sekkei.
Mitsuo Nakamura, the company's Chairman of the Board of Directors, says the company tends to accept interns from China, Korea, the USA, Italy and other countries. The company may sign a similar agreement with SibFU in the future.
