Questionnaire for the international students at the university

  1. What surprised you in Russia?
  2. What is the main difference between studying here and in your country?
  3. What words come to your mind when you are asked about the Russians, about Siberia and the SibFU?

Medina Pakompia Rudy Soler, Peru, MA in Polytechnic School, 2nd year in Russia

  1. Advantages of living in Russia:
    + safety, it's nice to live without fear of being kidnapped or that something bad can happen;
    + punctuality, I like that Russians are like that;
    + people respect others rather than doing things that worry others;
    + hospitality, people are very kind. When they help you, they do it because they want to help you, they are not hypocrites.

    Disadvantages: upon arrival, I was surprised that everybody is so serious. I was afraid to talk, but then I realized that when you talk to them, they change completely. They are ready to talk if there is time, and they help you if they can.

  2. The pandemic prevents me from drawing the correct conclusion, because I almost have no classes, everything is online, I cannot interact with teachers, see how they solve a particular problem, how they program. I have classes once in a while. Professors give us tasks that we solve, and we read extra materials. If we have some doubts we can always ask questions. I would say that I hate distance learning on Master’s program.
  3. Dreams, vodka, Northern lights, bears, Moscow, Putin, supersonic weapons, World War II, Literature, love, beauty, values, snow.
