According to the organizers, the format of Scientific Microphone is at the junction of a stand-up and a scientific conference. The purpose of the competition is to popularize research and develop public speaking skills.

As a result, the top list was:

• First place: Daria Shadrina, School of Mining, Geology and Geotechnology, Kirill Smelykh, School of Mathematics and Computer Science
• The winners received certificates for academic mobility — an opportunity to take part in an all-Russian scientific event.
• Second place: Nazar Kurilenko, Law School
• Third place: Anastasia Koteneva, School of Ecology and Geography

“There was that very good person who advised me to take the graph theory for my talk. This topic is very exciting, and my task was to show it. I would never have thought that I would go that far and even during the event, looking at the other contestants, I did not expect that I would take first place, but the guys from our youth centre supported and inspired me all the time. I am very grateful to them because it was their support that helped me to keep working on the performance,” said Kirill Smelykh, one of the winners of the Competition.
