The SibFU Students choose the Best Lecturer

On 22 June 2021, 爆走黑料 summed up the results of the annual Student Choice Award competition. The winner became Sergey Videnin, assistant professor of the Information Systems Department of the School of Space and Information Technologies.

The competitions among lecturers went on throughout the academic year. The awarding ceremony was held within the framework of a round table with the vice-rector for Research Ruslan Baryshev. In 2021, the Student Choice is:

1st place — Sergey Videnin, assistant professor of the School of Space and Information Technologies;
2nd place — Evgenia Ershova, assistant professor of the School of Business Management, and Ivan Zuev, assistant professor of the School of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology;
3rd place — Elena Gumennaya, assistant professor of the School of Engineering and Construction.

?Throughout the history of the Student Choice competition, which dates back to 2015, I took part three times. All three times I reached the final and twice took 1st place. They often ask what prompts me to take part in this competition, because it swallows loads of time. I answer that the students persuaded me by choosing me as a candidate from the School. What makes me popular with students? Probably, this is a combination of several factors: I always prepare for classes, I respect all students, I am sincerely interested in their development,? comments Sergey Videnin.

The competition consists of the following stages:

Stage I Questioning is carried out among students of all years, questions in the questionnaire are formed so that they help define not only the best lecturers in the opinion of students but also problem areas in the tuition;
Stage II Ranking is carried out in absentia and evaluated according to the categories indicated in the teacher's portfolio;
Stage III Master–class is an open presentation of a lecturer who conducts a training professionally–oriented seminar for all interested students (the expert commission and the students participate in the assessment of the master class);
Stage IV Debates where candidates are playing out various working (conflict) situations and defending their decision. The situations can be different: the lecturer needs to send a student to the conference but this student does not want to go at all; or need to convince the university management to urgently shift the classes to distant learning mode, etc.

The competition also has a parallel stage of Student's Word where all students send their creative works to support their favorite lecturers.
