The SibFU Honors College additional training program awarded its certificates to the graduates on June 25, 2021.
The educational Honors path of these students began two years ago, and despite the obstacles that have arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all restrictions have been turned into educational benefits: Honors College managed to hold many events thanks to the online format; international contacts have expanded and strengthened, the scale of the College has increased and so has the quality of student projects and research. Honors conferences and forums have become more interesting.
For instance, based on the methodology of the Co-Talent European project, HC students Polina Suzdaleva, Irina Solyanik, Tatyana Sinyakova studied entrepreneurial talents of SibFU students. Their project materials became part of web resources at cotalent.eu.
On June 23, 2021, HC student Amirjon Rustamzoda spoke at one of the events of the World of Talent international conference where students and lecturers of Honors College from universities in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the USA, Austria, Norway and other countries shared their experience of developing online ways to strengthen the honors community. Amirjon talked about the SibFU Business Club project which he set up together with other HC students, Andrey Kuzmin and Sergey Torokov.
But the most important result of the educational path for the Honors College students is a high degree of satisfaction with their honors education. All graduates spoke about this in solemn speeches at the Award Ceremony. The secret of their success lies in the combination of three educational elements: self-development, edutainment principles and team project activities.
Firstly, each student had the opportunity to make an educational choice and independently built an individual educational trajectory. There are no two students alike; each of them has their own set of completed educational directions, their own list of mastered relevant competencies – those soft skills, without which personal and professional success is impossible today. In one certificate you can see Negotiation, Creative Visual Thinking, Effective Communication and Project Management, and in the other – Participation in International Conferences, Homo Ludens, Personality, Competition and Career, and Insightful Conflict Resolution. Educational diversity is one of the main features of honors education.
Secondly, the graduates said that they were never bored at Honors College. Thanks to the game and partner interaction, individual approach and original creative assignments, HC students always felt that the learning process is interesting.
Thirdly, the students of Honors College highly appreciated the experience of teamwork, in which they could find like-minded fellows. The ceremony was also attended by SibFU HC 2019 graduates who wished this-year graduates further success and welcomed them in the honors community.
In her speech, Maria Tarasova, head of SibFU Honors College, said: “There are qualities that I see in each of our graduates. This is a sense of purpose, perseverance, confidence and belief in the value of your business, the desire to learn new things and the ability to create a team. This is the ability not to be afraid to follow your inner voice and go your own way. The acquisition and development of such qualities, undoubtedly, is the main reward that a university can give. The experience of self-dependence in education that Honors College students receive gives them more confidence in their own life journey”.
