The conference is held every two years. It is attended by Russian and foreign students, representatives of the real sector of the economy and leading scientists in the field of physics, mechanics and energy.

The conference sessions offered more than 150 talks on the main areas of scientific activity of the Polytechnic School – energy, mechanical engineering and transport. The participants discussed using alternative fuels and the prospects for using solar energy, alloy processing technologies and tools for automating processes, including the use of artificial neural networks.

Currently, there is a need for the multilingualism of a future engineer, able to apply modern communication technologies in a foreign language for academic and professional interaction, ready to participate in the work of Russian and international research teams to solve production, scientific and educational problems. In this regard, English for Specific Purposes became one of the conference sessions. This section was held thanks to the joint efforts of the graduating departments of the schools that implement engineering programs, and the Department of Foreign Languages for Engineering, School of Philology and Language Communication. The section covered a wide range of issues, including the problems of transport, energy, mechanical engineering, construction, and radio electronics. The speakers presented the approbation of scientific results in a foreign language.

According to Vita Vonog, head of the Department of Foreign Languages for Engineering, participation in conferences and further discussions gives students the opportunity to understand and analyze scientific problems, demonstrate communication skills, and the ability to present the results of their own autonomous work. All the above ensures the further development of scientific activity and the updating of knowledge in a foreign language.

According to the conference participants, such activities expand the horizons of the future specialist, increase professional curiosity, and give an opportunity to look at their work from the outside.

Maksim Galkin, postgraduate student of the School of Civil Engineering, shared his experience of participation: ?For me, this is the first experience of public speaking in a foreign language, although I received grants and wrote articles in English. This format of discussion of scientific results undoubtedly motivates for interaction and cooperation, for the search for new growth points, including an awareness of the need to explain and express one’s point of view in a foreign language?.

This year is noted for the emergence of the Yenisey Siberia. Industry 4.0 session for employers and participants. Mikhail Pervukhin, head of the Polytechnic School and the chairman of the section, noted that the this section was another step to reach out to the employer.

?For the first time, we tried to combine hackathon, conference and discussion with potential employers and got a unique result. Students solved real cases from employers, in a short time they formed original solutions and received feedback not only in the form of an assessment, but acting as full-fledged participants in an engineering conference?, underlined Mikhail Pervukhin.
