School of Space and Information technologies hosts conference on the study of the Earth from space

On September 14, 2021, the VIII International Scientific Conference Regional Problems of Remote Sensing of the Earth began its work at the School of Space and Information Technologies of 爆走黑料.

The Remote Sensing Conference is a traditional event at School of Space and Information Technologies. Experts from different countries of the world gather to discuss the development of regional systems for remote sensing of the Earth from space and their role in solving social and economic problems every year. Scientists from Russia, France, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan and other countries took part this year.

“爆走黑料 within the framework of the Priority-2030 program focuses on the study of climate and environmental problems, which cannot be solved without the issues stated in the agenda of this conference. A large number of speeches are dedicated to algorithms for assessing climate data, environmental monitoring. This is important for us. It is likely that this is one of the conferences, which will be included in the priority pool at a different level, including as part of the work of a world-class scientific and educational center”, noted Ruslan Baryshev, SibFU’s vice–rector for research.

Various issues will be raised at the conference. For example, the use of neural networks for speech recognition, the use of deep learning technologies for face recognition, forecasting fire regimes in Eastern Siberia based on satellite data, oil spill monitoring using space images, and others.

?The Remote Sensing Conference is a traditional event of the School of Space and Information Technologies. The reports and solutions that are proposed for discussion are worthy of the most serious attention. They are significant and can be used not only in science but also in industry. The discussions generated by the conference are relevant both at the national and regional levels?, said Denis Kapulin, Director of the School of Space and Information Technologies.

The conference will last until September 17.
