SibFU’s victory in Priority 2030 state support program for Russian universities became the significant achievement in 2021. Moreover, the university won not only the basic part of the grant, which is 100 million roubles, but also got a special grant in the Territorial Leadership area. The development strategy of the university before the commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia was defended by SibFU Rector Maxim Rumiantsev, SUEK General Director Stepan Solzhenitsyn and Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss.

SibFU’s Research and Educational Center Yenisey Siberia was included in the number of 15 RECs in Russia and became the first world-class climate center in the country. The decision was made at a meeting of the Council of the REC under the Government of the Russian Federation. Key areas: monitoring and regulation of carbon emissions, creation of carbon landfills to control greenhouse gases, formation of systems for tracking industrial emissions and waste, as well as wildfires. The implementation of such plans will improve the social, economic and environmental development of not only Krasnoyarsk Territory, but also the Republics of Khakassia and Tuva, as well as enhance the investment potential of the territory as a whole.

Truly scientific issues

The high-profile results of 2021:

• improvement of early diagnosis of preeclampsia in pregnant women;
• creation of a program for precise definition of emotions in the text;
• development of catalysts for the production of ammonia in the treatment of industrial wastewater;
• creation of liquid crystal films that reduce energy consumption in gadgets;
• A new way to detect toxic substances in water.

Nonfiction issues

In 2021, two sections of the Big Lecture Hall project took place. In spring, Russian and foreign scientists, famous popularizers of science, including Nobel laureate Alexei Kokorin, virologist Sergei Netesov, and sociologist Svetlana Barsukova spoke at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. In autumn, the well-known entomologist Roman Yakovlev spoke in Krasnoyarsk.
The Popular Science program, a joint project of 爆走黑料 and Channel 7 Krasnoyarsk, became the winner of the VII All-Russian competition Fidelity to Science in the nomination The Best Program About Science on TV. The awards were presented to the laureates by Dmitry Peskov, Presidential Press Secretary, Deputy Head of the Executive Office of the President of Russia. Experts noted a program called Is It Possible to Edit Human Genes and When Will It Be Done? In this feature, geneticist Konstantin Krutovsky spoke about the human genome and when it is allowed to change.
In addition, a new site Scientific SibFU appeared in the information ecosystem of 爆走黑料. The resource combined nonfiction texts, video and photo materials. The next series of the Science Comics project was released, which will undergo major transformations in 2022, and cards about the ?#covid_ликбез? was prepared.
The SmallTalk project was launched, where young scientists talk about themselves and their path to science, and the podcast Smart People, in which experienced researchers share their views on life.

Students

2021 was a busy year for SibFU students. The team of future journalists took the third place for the Fluids Sessions photo project in the student media competition organized by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. Katya Astrakhantseva, the student of the School of Petroleum and Gas Engineering, participated in Mind Games in Sevastopol. She took a course of lectures and created a project about science in social networks with the Science.nice team. Participants of the SibFU Media Park joined the Youth Media Center at the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science and covered St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2021, the Eastern Economic Forum 2021 and the Congress of Young Scientists. In addition, Nikolai Solopeko, a master’s degree student of the School of Humanities, took part in the New Knowledge educational marathon and asked Elon Musk his question. Damir Bobylev, a SibFU’s student, recently joined the All-Russian Council of Students.

SibFU took an active part in all the events of the Year of Science and Technology.

• acted as an expert of the Science.Territory of Heroes competition;
• became the organizer of the Olympiad I am a professional in the field of Metallurgy;
• took part in the International Student Esports Tournament in Dota 2 and League of Legends Battle for Science;
• joined the All-Russian student graduation With Science in the Heart;
• presented 8 significant projects at VUZPROMEXPO–2021.

The bright end of the Year of Science and Technology for SibFU scientists was the participation in the Congress of Young Scientists. The business program of the congress brought together more than 3 thousand scientists from all over the country. It included over 90 discussions, round tables, lectures and plenary sessions. Vladimir Putin met with Congress participants.
