International Conference at SibFU: Modernization of Mining and Production of Metals

From 6 to 8 September 2022, SibFU School of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science hosts the 15th International Conference on . Researchers and representatives of the largest industry enterprises from Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China discuss innovative solutions within mining and metallurgy industry.

The event is organized by the School of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science (SibFU) and the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology (SB RAS).

According to Oksana Taran, director of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology (SB RAS), the conference is of particular importance for the industry, as the speakers — representatives of Norilsk Nickel MMC, the Research Center of Polyus Krasnoyarsk company, Hydrometallurgy Research Center and other reputable experts — present the achievements and issues of the production.

“Our research field is of purely practical importance and we appreciate cooperation with these companies. Competent contribution from each side — education, science, and industry — guarantees sustainable and fruitful cooperation,” the director noted.

Vladimir Baranov, director of the School of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science (SibFU), said that the purpose of the conference is to exchange the experience and discuss the results of scientific research in such areas as environmentally friendly manufacturing, subsoil use, energy saving.

“During the conference we submerge in the issues of metallurgy from different angles, and this approach makes this conference relevant. Moreover, that conference discusses training of qualified staff is especially important for us as representatives of the educational cluster. The direct communication with colleagues from enterprises allows keeping up with the current agenda,” said Dr Baranov.

After the conference, the proceedings will be published. It will be available on the Scientific Electronic Library platform and included in the database of the Russian Science Citation Index.
