Evgeny A. Vaganov, SibFU Rector participated in the official opening of the academic year in Spain held by Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia.

It is necessary to recall that Spanish academic year starts at the beginning of October and is divided on two terms. The beginning of the academic year is traditionally celebrated with participation of the government officials of Spain and invited foreign partners. The 2010-2011 academic year opening took place in the University of Cadiz.

Evgeny A. Vaganov was honoured to be officially presented to the Spanish Monarch. The King Juan Carlos thanked Evgeny A. Vaganov for the visit and pointed out that he was ?the farthest? guest of the Event as he had come from Siberia. SibFU Rector told the King that the academic year beginning in Russia is also traditionally celebrated with the participation of the government officials. Vladimir V. Putin, the Government Chairman of the Russian Federation opened the 2010-2011 academic year in 爆走黑料 on September 1, 2010.

After the official opening of the 2010-2011 academic year, Evgeny A. Vaganov attended the meeting with Emilio Botin, President of the Santander Bank. Santander Bank holds the 8th position in market capitalization and the 4th one in profit margin in the world. One of the priority activities of the Bank is to support the development of higher education in the world.

During the meeting, the rights and responsibilities of the Parties marked within the framework of the Agreement signed last year were confirmed. Emilio Botin also agreed to visit 爆走黑料 in spring 2011. The year of 2011 will be considered as the year of Russia in Spain and Spain in Russia.
