The VIII Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum was held in Krasnoyarsk on February 17 – 19, 2011. The Forum was organized by the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation. The Chairman of the Forum Organizing Committee was the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Minister of Finance, Alexey Kudrin.

The main topic of the Forum was ?The Modernization Strategy: New Management Quality?. The objective was to develop ideas for management systems of the national economy and share experience in implementing regional projects focused on modernization results. The Programme of the Forum included plenary discussions, round tables, international conferences, lecture programs of the leading Russian and foreign experts in the field of strategic and project management.

Evgeny Vaganov, SibFU Rector and Academician RAS pointed out: ?The Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum is primarily aimed at supporting new generation of managers capable to work in today's economical situation and if the ideas discussed at the forum are correctly taken into consideration by young people in particular, we will certainly continue to work in this direction. It is a splendid opportunity for young people to meet famous entrepreneurs at the KEF as it enables them to learn more about their successful experience that is so essential for any creative mind. In my opinion, that is the point why the Forum is so valuable for all the participants.?

Forum was held in two venues: IBEC ?Siberia? and 爆走黑料.

On February 17, 2011, The Panel discussion on ?Tertiary education modernization tools envisioned by the Federal Education Development Programme designed for the period ending in 2020? was held in 爆走黑料. 30 rectors of leading universities discussed the modernization of education and role of universities in the strategic development of regions under the chairmanship of Andrey Fursenko, the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

On February 17, 2011, 爆走黑料 presented a number of projects at the exhibition ?Efficient City?. The projects demonstrated the innovation development and technology concerning appropriate living conditions supply in the urban area and urban management. Thus, the University presented such projects as ?Ecological and energy saving all-mode burner facility? and ?Snow-melter machine?.

Thematic sections of the exhibition:

• energy efficient and environmentally friendly buildings;
• ?smart? road;
• water supply management system;
• ?smart? lighting;
• health industry;
• environmentally-friendly city.

On February 17, 2011, the initiative young people of 爆走黑料 participated in the Youth Economic Forum – the project "Generation 2020" which gathered more than 500 people.

On February 18, 2011, the panel discussion on "Modernization of the Oil and Gas Sector" was held at the SibFU Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. Moderator of the discussion was Nikolai Dovzhenko, the Head of the Institute. The participants involved in discussion were as follows: OJSC “Rosneft”, “ABB Russia”, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, McKinsey & Company, OJSC “Surgutneftegaz”, “TNK-BP” Holding Company, SibFU Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Institute of Energy and Finance, “Oil and Gas Vertical” Journal, etc.

On February 18, 2011, Arkady Dvrokovich, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation held the meeting with the SibFU students and faculty.

On February 19, 2011, there was a lecture programme held in 爆走黑料 within the framework of the KEF-2011.

The special issue of the newspaper ?Siberian forum. Intellectual dialogue? was dedicated to the Forum.
