The suggestions on creating a corporation to become the core of development for Far East and Eastern Siberia (from the western borders of Krasnoyarsk Krai to Kamchatka) were discussed in Kremlin at the working meeting of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and the head of Russian EMERCOM Sergey Shoigu on January, 21. According to Prime Minister who asked officials to prepare the suggestions, the corporation will be about the institute of development and attracting efficient managers ?to solve the urgent problems facing the region?.

Further discussions are expected to be hosted by the IX Krasnoyarsk economic forum. SibFU's researchers have aready presented a series of suggestions at pre-forum round tables.

SibFU rector Eugene Vaganov thinks that?because a new corporation is not an idustry-dependent entity, it would be quite logical to have its headquarters in Krasnoyarsk?. A key argument supporting this proposal is a part of Siberia 2020 development strategy. According to the document, exploring Arctic and Northern territories is the key objective of regional development. Having headquarters close to project sites might make management easier and facilitate quick decision making. ?The city has a developed financial infrastructure suitable for large transactions including those from abroad. In addition, it is an industrial city and there is an opportunity of 'immediate' investment into existing infrastructure. Innovative development is quite possible here?, — Eugene Vaganov said.

SibFU researchers suggest the important role of the city geography. Krasnoyarsk is connected to Moscow and Vladivostok by railway and automobile transportation, airway routes connect the city to South Eastern Asia and Northern region.

SibFU specialists take into account the international collaboration of the region with the US, Europe, countries of Central Asia and the Pacific region. The university could become the site of the project's integrating structure. SibFU's partners may become the nodes in the information network on the economic collaboration with the region. The university partners abroad include over fifty universities, research institutions and foundations. "Students from Central Asia working towards their engineering degrees at SibFU make an integrated group of young specialists prepared to work in Russia and their native countries" , — Eugene Vaganov said.
