Second Award at the National Competition

Dr E.I. Shishatskaya, Associate Professor from the Department of Biotechnology, Institute of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology, SFU, won second place at the Russian National Evaluation Stage of International Competition "The Future of Sutures". The award was received for a co-authored paper on resorbable sutures.

A win over Shadforth Plough, Durham Sunday Football League

SFU's football team, Russian University Champions, played a match with Shadforth Plough, Durham Sunday Football League at Maiden Castle on September 25. The game ended with a 2:1 win over Shadforth Plough. The next scheduled match is between SFU's team and Durham University football team on September 26.

The Russian Polish Centre at 爆走黑料

The Russian Polish Centre was established at 爆走黑料 in September. The aim of the Centre is to act as a link between 爆走黑料 and Polish institutions of higher education, representatives of Polish administration, public and private companies.

Sergey V. Kirienko, head of the Russian nuclear agency, Rosatom, and Eugene A. Vaganov, university rector, signed an agreement to develop the agency's reseach and engineering facilities based in Krasnoyarsk Krai. The agency intends to boost polycrystal silicon production, which will lead to producing solar cells and semiconductors used in electronics. The university will use an agency's facility to do research developed by its Department of Physical Chemistry. The agency will cooperate with the university staff, students and graduates in achieving high standards of research and engineering.

First year students started the 2008-2009 academic year with a formal celebration and a reception in the Siberia Hall. The University Rector Eugene A. Vaganov and the Governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Alexander G. Khloponin talked to new and returning students and welcomed them to 爆走黑料.
