Although intended for use on a numerical methods course for engineering and science students, this text will also be invaluable to research students as a handbook on numerical techniques.
13may SFU's mountaineerers climbed the highest peak in the Eastern Sayan mountains SFU's mountaineering club members climbed the Munku-Sardik, the highest peak in the Eastern Sayan mountains, bordering Mongolia and Buryatia. It was the fourth climbing expedition organized by the university's mountaineering club.
08may President Medvedev intends to create a network of federal universities President Medvedev intends to sign the bill creating a network of federal universities to improve the institutions of higher education. This will create a larger pool of quaified labour to support a productive, highly skilled, innovative economy. The government will consider developing a draft bill on federal universities with a federal university in the Russian Far East and several other federal universities to be created in the near future.
07may The inauguration of Russia's president The inauguration of Russia's president, Dmitry Medvedev, will take place in the Kremlin Palace, May 7, 2008. Professor Vaganov, SFU's rector, is invited to the inauguration. Dmitry Medvedev is the chair of SFU's Board of Trustees.
05may Student conference and MINEX Siberia 2008 business forum The Institute of Mining, Geology and Geotechnology, SFU, hosted a student conference on computer applications for mining and mineral exploration. The Institute was also one of the organizers of MINEX Siberia 2008, a business forum held in Krasnoyarsk 28-30 April 2008.
30april Thirteen gold medals at the city student competition SFU's team won first place and thirteen gold medals at the city student competition in Krasnoyarsk. Students from various Krasnoyask universities competed in different sports, with two SFU teams taking first and second places.

The illustrated catalogues present the Russian art of the X-XVII centuries, the Russian icons of the XVIII-XX centuries, the Russian paintings of the XVIII-XX centuries, the Russian drawings of the XVIII-XX centuries, the Russian sculpture of the XVIII-XX centuries.
29april Summer sports competitions Summer sports competitions will take place from the 21st of April until the14th of September. The competitions will involve students and teachers who will run, rollerskate, cycle, exercise, hike in the Stolbi Nature Park, and canoe.
25april Internships available in Spain for the best students from the Institute of Mining, Geology and Geotechnology, SFU Eugene Vaganov, SFU's rector, and Alfonso Maldonado Zamora, Director, School of Mining, Madrid Polytechnic University, have signed a collaboration agreement.
