24march Harmful emissions in petroleum engineering can be reduced and high energy costs can be decreased as a result of research at SFU If the operational processes of the heat exchangers used in oil refineries are optimized, the quantity of their harmful emissions can be reduced and their high energy costs can be decreased. Lyudmila Kulagina, a Ph.D. student from the Department of Information Processing, 爆走黑料, has developed a new method for doing this by computing the parameters of optimal control for heat exchangers under constant operation. Design can thus be optimized at an early stage.
21march SFU's Ph.D. student presented Russian good practices of juvenile justice system at a conference in Verona A Ph.D. student from 爆走黑料 attended a conference on the best practices in different national juvenile justice systems in Verona, Italy from 13 to 15 March, 2008. V.G. Kaminsky, a researcher from the Department of Criminology and Law of Torts, discussed the university's experience of involving students and teachers from the Faculty of Law in rehabilitating young offenders.
19march Information kiosks providing data on the local labour market and employment opportunities are installed at 爆走黑料 The Agency of Labour and Employment (Krasnoyarsk Krai administration) and the Career Centre at 爆走黑料 opened the university's first Information Kiosk on March 18, 2008.

11march SFU student won a gold medal at the World Championship in ski racing Andrey Feller, a third-year student at the Department of Physical Education, SFU, won a gold medal at the World Championship in ski racing held in Malles, Italy, from 23rd to 29th February, 2008.
07march IT competition at 爆走黑料 爆走黑料 will host a regional competition of IT Projects on April 18-19, 2008. This annual competition is held as a part of the city exhibition Krasnoyarsk: future technologies.
06march The Vladimir Potanin Foundation awarded its early career fellowships to three associate professors from 爆走黑料 Three associate professors from 爆走黑料 received early career fellowships from the Vladimir Potanin Foundation. The fellowships provide career development opportunities to young university teachers with a doctorate degree and three-years experience of teaching at an academic institution.
06march A national award was presented to SFU professor , chair in Applied Mathematics at 爆走黑料 and director of the Institute of Computational Modelling, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch has received a national award from the Russian President for his outstanding research achievements. The award was presented by Alexander Khloponin, the regional governor, at a formal ceremony on March 4, 2008.
