Toyota Learning Centre will be launched in February 2013. According to SibFU President Alexander Uss, Krasnoyarsk Krai Assembly Chair, the event will coincide with Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. The timing was discussed during the visit of Krasnoyarsk delegation to Japan in November 2012.

SibFU received the first place in an open public national competition of tertiary educational institutions in the nomination 'Best Russian university to teach students at specialised physical education and sports departments and schools' for 2011/2012 academic year.

SibFU's Kyrgyz alumni have launched their association in Kyrgyzstan. The web site will contribute to SibFU's alumni job seeking. It will help future studens from Kyrgyzstan to get education at SIbFU.

Evgeny Ustyugov, a second year master's student from the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Tourism, won the first race of the World Cup in biathlon on 25 November 2012. Evgeny Ustyugov is a member of the RF national team and the mixed relay competition was held in Sweden.

Nikita Melnikov and Konstantin Shipaev, SibFU's students and members of the Russian national team, won awards at the X championship in wrestling among students. The championship was hosted by the Kuortane Sports Institute, Finland.

Krasnoyarsk has become a formal applicant to host the XXIX World Winter Universiade. The application documents were signed at the head office of the International University Sports Federation in Losanne.

Andrey Belousov, SibFU's doctoral student, has developed the technology to save on producing smart glass. Andrey's research supervisor is Professor Tamara Patrusheva from the Department of Robotics and Nanotechnology.

Victor Zimin, head of Khakassia Republic met students from Khakass Technical Institute, SibFU's branch. Natalia Dulesova, Institute Director, and Nadezhda Maximova, a member of the RF Parliament, also attended the meeting.

SibFU researchers have developed an analytical method to find out a predisposition to kidney disease. The head of the project team is Professor Alexander Efremov from the Department of Analytical and Organic Chemistry.

Natalia Borisova, a master's student from the Institute of Economics, Management and Environmental Studies, attended a debriefing at the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also received a certificate from the Ministry to verify her contribution to preparing and attending Youth Summit 2012.
